Mechanism of Action
BPF is the polyphenolic fraction of Citrus Bergamia standardized to Neoeriocitrin, Neohesperidin, Naringin, Melitidine and Brutieridine, together, these fractions have different published mechanisms of actions
(i) Competitive binding of substarte site of HMG COA Reductase enzyme
(ii) AMPK activation through inhibition of phosphodiesterase and
(iii) Inhibition of Pancreatic cholesterol ester hydrolase. Through additional pleotropic mechnisms, BPF reduces LDL, Triglycerides, Total Cholesterol and increases HDL, additionally, it is also shown to reduce blood glucose levels.
Indications
BPF is intended for overall improvement of lipid profile in patients who are not achieving their target LDL levels through existing pharmacotherapy.
